On the top of this steamboat is a crazy old witch playing the calliope. Calliope = "an American keyboard instrument resembling an organ but with the notes produced by steam whistles. From the Greek Muse of epic poetry Kalliope, literally meaning 'having a beautiful voice.'" It is hard to see in this picture but the steam coming off the calliope is multi-colored giving a visual quality to the melodies played.
